Captain Pierre Leblanc, CD
Captain Pierre Leblanc began his musical studies on the violin at the age of six. After few years on the clarinet, he continued his studies at Cégep Saint-Laurent on trombone. He earned his Bachelor of Music (performance) from the Université de Montréal and completed a Masters in composition. He earned a specialized graduate diploma (DESS) in arts management from the École des hautes études commerciales (HÉC).
Captain Leblanc enrolled as a trombonist in 1988. He rose through the ranks, receiving his commission as Captain in July 2008. Throughout his carrier, Captain Leblanc held a variety of positions with the band including working as a musician and conductor of the Garde en Rouge band at the Citadelle in Québec City. He appeared with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under Kent Nagano on two occasions as conductor of a brass choir. He is currently the commanding officer and musical director of the Fusiliers Mont-Royal Band.
In his civilian life Captain Leblanc has taught high school music and guest conducted various bands. He worked as head of publicity, communications and marketing for the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal for seven years and is currently a consultant in arts management. He is also the public affairs officer for the headquarters of the 34th Canadian Brigade-Group.
