A professional actor, represented by Reisler Talent in Montreal, Joan was also an acting teacher & director at John Abbott College’s Department of Theatre for over 30 years. Most recently, Joan directed “The Tin Can People” by Edward Bond and “Under Milk Wood” by Dylan Thomas which performed at the Edinburgh Festival FRINGE in 2011 and 2013 respectively - both to critical acclaim. Joan also conceived and directed the Montreal Dinner Theatre production of “Anglo! –a Musical Cartoon” .This wildly successful production played to packed houses in Montreal for 2 ½ years. Joan moved to Ontario in 2014 but she continues to work in Montreal is back and forth regularly.
Since moving to Prince Edward County, Ontario, Joan has been an active member of the performing arts community there. Recent credits include Margaret Jones in The Festival Players production of “Unjustly” by Krista Dalby (2015);Renaissance Singers of PEC (Quartet) “Tenebrae Responseries“ by Tomas Luis de Victoria (2015); as a chorister in the PEC Ecumenical Choir under the direction of Michael Goodwin, Joan has performed such works as “Jesu Meine Freude” BWV 227 (2016); “Magnificat” by Pergolesi and “A Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten (2016).In September 2017, Joan will perform in “The Belle of Amherst” by William Luce at the Mt. Tabor Theatre in Prince Edward County. “The Belle of Amherst” is a solo performance based on the life and writings of the American poetess, Emily Dickinson.
