Laura is a self-represented performer who has trained in both Quebec and Ontario. She has most recently studied at St. Lawrence College in Brockville where she completed a three year advanced diploma program with training in voice, acting and three styles of music theatre dance.
This past summer Laura was one of two Quebec performers chosen for the workshop and performance of a new canadian musical The Dreamcatchers as part of the 2017 Charlottetown Young Company. The show, written by Mary Francis Moore, opened in Charlottetown, PEI and later went on tour for five weeks across the country, sparking conversation about Canada 150 celebrations, Canadian diversity, reconciliation and the dreams of Canada’s future generations.
Laura’s training at SLC included starring roles in Twelfth Night, Aaron Eyre’s cabaret show Grand Central: Divas on Broadway and Superstars The Divas Finale. She has worked with industry professionals like Craig Fair, Mary Francis Moore, Jan Venn-Jackson, Patrick Burwell and Michael Bianchin. Other important influences include Aaron Eyre, Breanna Willis, Dave Miller, Stacey Maroske, Cameron Carver and Chad McNamara.
For two summers Laura worked at Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg under the Ontario Parks Commission as a musician, performer and interpreter of the 1860’s living history site. She worked closely with other trained musicians and historians, performing mid 19th century minstrel music and entertainment to a wide variety of audiences from all over the world.
Laura plans on completing her music theatre training more fully with an honors bachelor degree in Performing Arts from ITSligo, Ireland starting September 2018. Laura enjoys working with local artists and is therefore thrilled to be part of the 2018 Festival de la Voix.
