Michael Cartile
Concordia University trumpet professor Michael Cartile studied at McGill University under James Thompson and Gerald Danovitch. As lead trumpet player for The Vic Vogel Big Band, Michael has performed with such legends as Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme and Natalie Cole. Michael has played principal trumpet in productions such as “Les Misérables”, “The Phantom of the Opera”, “The King and I“, “Annie”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Grease”, “Westside Story”, and “Jeanne LaPucelle” at the Place-des-Arts. He has also worked extensively in television, radio and studio settings. Michael has recently recorded the sound tracks for and appeared in the following movies: “The Family”, “P.T. Barnum”, “The Audrey Hepburn Story”. Michael has played for more than 30 years at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
