‘Mystiques’

Saturday, April 18, 2026 — 7:30 PM

The Studio de la musique ancienne is celebrating its 51st season; The SMAM and musica intima of Vancouver jointly commissioned composer Andrew Balfour, of Cree ancestry, to create Missa Tekakwitha, The Seven Stones of Grandfather’s Prophecies, which evokes the tragic fate of Kateri Tekakwitha, who died at the age of 24.

This concert featuring the Studio de la musique ancienne de Montréal will blend European polyphonic music with Indigenous languages, bringing together legendary figures of the First Nations, Marian symbols, miracles, natural wonders, and other profound upheavals. Missa Tekakwitha will be performed alongside the remarkable Missa Et ecce terræ motus by Antoine Brumel.

General Admission: $30

Student/Senior: $25
